About Us

A public meeting was held August 24, 1999, in the St. Paul Schools Multipurpose Room to discuss forming a support group for St. Paul Schools. Representatives from the Frontenac Education Foundation and Girard Alumni Association shared their groups' accomplishments. The consensus of those present was that St. Paul Schools should also have an active, organized group of alumni and friends.

The St. Paul Schools Alumni & Friends Association was incorporated as a non-profit Kansas corporation on December 29, 1999. We attained our initial determination of 501c3 status from the Internal Revenue Service on November 28, 2000. After the advance ruling period, this status was affirmed on July 1, 2004.

Our Predecessors

On Saturday, January 2, 1926, graduates of St. Francis High School formed what we believe was the first Alumni Association in St. Paul. Rev. Father Alban, C. P., had charge of the meeting and was the first director of the association. Officers elected that evening were President, Ina Hopkins; Secretary, Cecelia Munding; Treasurer, William Siegel.

"The purpose of the association is to interest the alumni in the present affairs of the school and to meet at the end of each term with the graduates of that year and renew school day friendships. It is also expected that this organization will give several 'affairs' during the school year to help both the school and the association.

The following attended the meeting Saturday night:

Ethel Volmer '24, Lawrence Dwyer '25, Cecelia Linden '25, Pearl Dillon '22, Vera Dowd '25, Mary Dillon '23, Mable Glasgow '23, Olive Volmer '25, Eddie George '25, Ina Hopkins '25, Cecelia Munding '24, Mary Dowd '23, William Siegel '24, Alice McClarnan '24, Cleo Smith '25, Bernard Dowd '25, Alma George '24, Frances Brogan '23, Fred Strasser '23, Harold Linden '25, Joseph O'Bryan '25, and Rev. Father Alban."
